Re: Message forwarding SCOM –> HP Operations Manager UNIX

I have this working really well with one exception. The runbook object (Create OM message) doesn’t pass ALL the values I ask it to. Specifically, it doesn’t pass the management pack name. (comes across as null). The OM team uses that for their filtering.

I had to download and install the IP for HP OM as well as for SCOM 2007 and I installed the 2012 IP.

Configure the management servers under the Options menu pick at the top. You will need to define the user account that has permissions to OM and on the SCOM side, I used my SDK account.

I had to also have my OM admins allow port 8444 through the firewall on the OM side. (RedHat Linux with OM9)

Using the Runbook Tester you can step through and see exactly what’s being passed to OM. There are fields that are required. You must pass the object, severity, things like that. You will get an error in the runbook tester telling you what value is required if you are not an OM guy.

Also, you want to look closely at severity. In SCOM, it is information while in OM it is “Normal”. You need to map that.

Using Map Published Data, you can define the severity mapping. If you try to create an OM message where severity equals “Information” it will fail and you will not get the event.
