I implemented this at my last employer (Citrix). At first we used a SCOM notification channel which ran OPCMSG with Parameters to create the alert.
After that we matured to BSM, and we leveraged the HP BSM Integration Adapter which brought over Topology and Events. The IAA is a hardcore connector.
If all you need are simple events, I recommend going the opcmsg way.
